Please start adding content. These pages work just like a word processing document. You should put your initials at the end of whatever editing you do to this page or any other page in this class wiki. I will then know who has commented. You should keep re-visiting the page to read what your classmates have added and whatever new you have found by exploring wikis on the web.
Wikis...what do you know? Wiki means quick quick in Hawaiian. LS The first wiki was created by Ward Cunningham in 1995. EJ Wikis are a mechanism for students to collaborate to develop knowledge on a particular subject. LSA wiki is a website that any number of people can contribute to, or edit, for information on a given topic (such as "wiki"). It is different than a blog in that its purpose is to provide a forum for information collection and verification, rather than commentary and conversation. Wikis are non-fiction. KW
Here are some free wikis you can use with students:
pbwiki
Wikispaces
EduWikiTorial
JotSpot
Note***JotSpot has been bought by Google and is currently taking no new users until it makes the Google migration....That said....we need to keep an eye on JotSpot...I think Google Tools make for a one stop shopping for users. This is a completely biased opinion.
Please add wiki resources here.
The most famous wiki of them all...Wikipedia. LS
Wikisource, a sister project of Wikipedia? AP

According to the NEA Today (March 2008, p. 48) you can find a Pary Planning wiki at http://planyp.us which provides the opportunity to join a group party planner. Seems like it would be great to use for people in different places planning a party. You do have to join and have a username and password. There is a list of events in the area (Boston) but it is still an interesting wiki.
Scratch pad is a mini-wiki that allows the opportunity to "test wiki ideas before you launch a full wiki, and it's a place for small collaborative projects that don't need a whole wiki." You can find it at http://scratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/Scratchpad_Wiki_Labs. JJ

The Wiki scandal that rocked Wikipedia continues to be a topic of controversy. People on both sides of the fence continue to debate the conduct of editor Essjay. It remains food for thought. The Science Roll blogroll is a good example. Are Digital Immigrants able to allow others to edit their wikis? Do We Really Think Differently?

James Roberston's Blog post "Wikis and Blogs - some thoughts" helped clarify. Could the "hide all comments" feature on his blog allow you to convert your wiki into a blog or not? Open dialogue at my Blog : We need BLOG Dialogue .......
